Litigation Associate – Detroit Metro

Our Detroit office is in search of a Litigation Associate to support our growing Litigation practice. This position offers the opportunity to learn in a successful and growing boutique IP firm and includes excellent mentoring opportunities with experienced practitioners in a collaborative working environment.

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and minimum education requirements:

  • Four to seven years of experience.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is preferred.
  • Additional MI, MO, VA, and/or TX admission is ideal.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

A hybrid work environment is an option for this position. Consideration may be given to candidates located in our other offices, Missouri, Virginia, or Texas. Remote candidates with experience of at least seven years will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This position offers a total of 1900 billable hours but may be reduced and considered on a case-by-case basis relative to experience and education.

Patent Prosecution Associate – Washington, D.C. Metro

Our Washington, D.C. Metro office has an immediate opening for a patent associate attorney who will work in the areas of mechanical, chemical, and/or material science arts, including consumer products.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Have one to four years of experience.
  • An undergraduate or advanced degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Are registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Are familiar with U.S. patent practice, including demonstrated experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

Patent Prosecution Associate – Electrical – Detroit Metro

Our Detroit Metro office has an immediate opening for a patent associate attorney. This position offers the opportunity to develop a varied and interesting practice preparing and prosecuting patent applications on a range of commercially significant technologies for large- and medium-sized clients from diverse industries, including semiconductors, computer-related technologies, telecommunications, consumer electronics, digital image processing, and robotics. Opportunities exist for additional responsibilities and to develop additional skills, including formulating patent strategies, conducting patentability and freedom-to-practice studies, preparing opinion letters, conducting due diligence, and negotiating technology agreements.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least two years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (an advanced degree is preferred but not required).
  • State bar and United States Patent and Trademark Office registration.
  • Familiarity with U.S. patent laws.

Patent Prosecution Associate – Mechanical – Detroit Metro

Our Detroit Metro office has an immediate opening for a patent associate attorney. This position offers an opportunity to develop a varied and interesting practice preparing and prosecuting patent applications on a range of commercially significant technologies for large- and medium-sized clients from diverse industries, including automotive systems, batteries and chargers, fasteners, food processing, furniture, heavy equipment, household products, HVAC, industrial-process handling, medical devices, optics, packaging, power tools, powertrain, process equipment, pumps, valves, refrigeration, sporting equipment, textiles, and turf-care products. Opportunities exist for additional responsibilities and to develop additional skills, including formulating patent strategies, conducting patentability and freedom-to-practice studies, preparing opinion letters, conducting due diligence, and negotiating technology agreements.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Three to six years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • An undergraduate degree and/or technical experience in mechanical engineering arts (an advanced degree is preferred, but not required).

Patent Agent or Patent Attorney – Biotech – St. Louis Metro

Our St. Louis Metro office is in search of a lateral candidate to support our expanding Biotech team.

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and minimum education requirements:

  • Two to six years of experience.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar; master’s degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar; and / or doctorate in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar.
  • Two years of laboratory experience.

Consideration may be given to candidates located in Michigan, Virginia, or Texas. Remote candidates with experience of at least four to six years will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This position offers a total of 1900 billable hours but may be reduced and considered on a case-by-case basis relative to experience and education.

  • An undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.
  • Eligibility to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and familiarity with U.S. patent practice, including demonstrated experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications (these are not required but are a plus).
