Harness Dickey, one of the country’s largest and most respected intellectual property law firms, announced today that Tyson Benson has joined its Metro Detroit office. Benson is a registered patent attorney with nearly ten years of experience managing patent portfolios and protecting the intellectual property assets of clients ranging from start-ups to universities to Fortune 500 companies.

Benson’s practice will focus on preparing and prosecuting patents for clients in numerous industries, including software, medical devices, consumer products, and consumer electronics. His practice will also include negotiating licensing agreements, providing litigation support, conducting freedom to operate analyses, and providing ongoing patent and business strategy counsel to clients in the U.S. and abroad.
Benson was previously an attorney with a small intellectual property firm in Omaha, Nebraska, where he won the Great Plains Super Lawyers “Rising Star” Award for Intellectual Property in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Prior to practicing law, Tyson was a Product Engineer for Micron Technology where he helped drive innovation in DRAM technology.
Benson joins Harness Dickey as an Associate in its Troy, Michigan, headquarters. He holds a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.
