Harness IP is pleased to announce that St. Louis IP attorney Joel Samuels has been elected Chair of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis’ (BAMSL) Patent, Trademark, and Copyright (PTC) Section. Samuels began his new role on May 1, 2021. He previously served as Chair-Elect.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of BAMSL’s PTC Section, which is one of BAMSL’s most active Sections,” said Samuels. “I look forward to continuing our tradition of providing excellent CLEs, including the PTAB, Federal Circuit, TTAB, and Trademark Year in Review programs. Thanks to Thad Blenke for his excellent leadership as Chair this past year.”

Samuels is a Principal in the firm’s metro St. Louis office. He advises clients on contested matters in district courts and in USPTO proceedings, including Post Grant Review proceedings and TTAB oppositions and cancellations. Additionally, he negotiates and documents a wide variety of agreements, including settlements, licenses, and inventor development arrangements. Clients also receive IP training and management advice that Samuels tailors to their specific needs.

In addition to his practice as an IP attorney, Samuels is an adjunct professor at Washington University in Saint Louis School of Law and Pro Bono Counsel & Advisor to the Intellectual Property Clinic at Penn State Law School.
