IP Law Firm Celebrates Veterans with Week of Giving, Visit from “JCS Hero”

The Metro St. Louis office of Harness IP (https://www.harnessip.com), one of the country’s largest and most respected intellectual property law firms, celebrated its second Annual Joshua Chamberlain Society Week to honor severely-wounded military service members, and the families of killed-in-action service members, from the St. Louis area. The firm hosted a series of fundraisers throughout the week of September 17th to raise both money and awareness for the needs of these American Heroes. The weeklong fundraiser is expected to raise more than $5,000 for the Joshua Chamberlain Society (JCS).

On Monday, September 24th, the firm will welcome SSGT Joshua Eckhoff, U.S. Army, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and current “JCS Hero,” to share his story. SSGT Eckhoff was injured in Afghanistan when an explosively formed projectile pierced the Humvee in which he was traveling and caused him to suffer a severe traumatic brain injury.

“It’s a humbling experience to hear from military veterans in our community who have sacrificed so much in our service, and we are honored that SSGT Eckhoff is coming to speak to us,” says Matt Cutler, Harness IP Principal and President of JCS. “Overall, this is Harness IP’s 16th Annual Charity Week and I am honored and thankful both that Harness IP has chosen JCS to be the recipient of its fundraising for the past two years and also for the incredible generosity of our employees.”

Harness IP raised $5,500 for JCS in 2017, which included a visit from Corporal Todd Nicely, a native of Arnold, Missouri and an Afghanistan War Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp. who was the second ever quadruple amputee survivor.

The Joshua Chamberlain Society is a grass roots, 501(c)(3) charity that provides long term support for severely-wounded military veterans. It also provides long term support to the children of local veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in our service. Support is multi-faceted and comes in the form of gifts, tuition assistance, monetary donations, and anything that will improve the quality of life for these heroic Americans.
