Metro Detroit Trademark Attorney Named to “Leaders in the Law” List

Harness IP is pleased to announce that veteran trademark attorney Beth Coakley has been named to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Leaders in the Law” class of 2019. The class will be honored at the publication’s annual luncheon and awards celebration on Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Coakley is an intellectual property attorney with more than 38 years of legal experience. Her practice focuses on trademark and branding protection for clients around the globe. Coakley has extensive prosecution and litigation experience before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in Federal and State Courts.

Coakley earned her J.D., cum laude, from Michigan State University and B.G.S., with honors, from Oakland University. Her list of industry awards, most of which were peer-nominated, include Top 250 IP Women in the United States, two “Client’s Choice” awards from the American Corporate Counsel Association, Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” award, and multiple awards from Leading Lawyers, Managing Intellectual Property, Michigan Super Lawyers, among many other honors and accolades.

According to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly website, attorneys receiving the honor were chosen for exhibiting several key factors, including: significant accomplishments or achievements in law practice; outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan; leadership in improving the justice system in Michigan; seeking improvements to the legal community and their communities at large; and setting an example for other lawyers.
