Harness IP CEO Ray Millien to Join Panel Discussion about Software Patent Eligibility

Harness IP CEO Ray Millien will participate in a panel discussion about software patent eligibility at the upcoming IPWatchdog LIVE conference in Dallas, Texas. The conference will take place September 12 – 14.

Spurred by recent decisions such as Yu v. Apple, which held that a patent for a digital camera was abstract and ineligible, as well as a pending cert petition before the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of American Axle, the discussion around software patent eligibility is perhaps hotter than ever.

The session, titled “Is the Federal Circuit Killing Software Patents?” will take place September 14 at 11:15 am. Topics for discussion include:

  • Is it possible to reform 35 U.S.C. 101?
  • Are software patents still viable?
  • If and when Congress or the Supreme Court will weigh in
  • And what exactly is going on at the Federal Circuit?

Three fellow patent experts, including a former USPTO Patent commissioner, will join Millien in the discussion.
