By Tyson B. Benson, Associate
Metro Detroit patent attorney Tyson Benson will lead a webinar presentation on March 5, 2019, that discusses the updated Section 101 guidance and how it will affect tech transfer offices and universities. The new guidance, which was issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office in early January, is aimed at clarifying subject matter eligibility for patent applications directed to software and computer-implemented technologies.
Following years of uncertainly in the software space, patent owners and applicants may want to take new stock of their IP portfolios in response to these new standards.
This webinar will do the following:
- Provide an in-depth analysis of the updated examination guidance
- Demonstrate how technology transfer offices should evaluate their invention disclosures in light of the updated examination guidance
- Discuss how to prepare applications for maximum patent protection
- Reveal how the examiners and tribunals are handling patent applications based on the updated examination guidance
Benson will also save time for an interactive question and answer portion of the presentation.
