Stephen advises middle market and Fortune 500 companies on the development and implementation of global intellectual property strategies. His experience includes worldwide patent and trademark preparation and prosecution, patent and trademark portfolio management, infringement and validity opinions, development of enforcement and risk avoidance initiatives, licensing, and the preparation and negotiation of all IP related agreements.

Stephen is dedicated to building client relationships that are based on both commitment and trust. He seeks to understand not only the details of each client’s technologies, but also how these technologies can be effectively leveraged for the client’s commercial benefit. With more than two decades of practical intellectual property law experience, Stephen’s constant focus is on helping his clients to own, leverage, and safeguard their cutting-edge innovations and trademarks.

Stephen is involved in a wide variety specialized industry sectors, ranging from the mechanical and electromechanical arts, to chemical and life science arts. Stephen has significant experience with design patents and is also involved with detailed trademark strategies in the U.S. and abroad. Many of his clients have a global presence, and include not only U.S. based businesses, but also major companies and market leaders in Europe and Asia.

Stephen’s ability to synthesize and reconcile intellectual property law — both in the U.S. and abroad — into a cohesive strategy and workable action plan is further enhanced by his attention to detail and productive communication skills. Stephen consistently and effectively guides companies through the full array of their cross border initiatives, which is one of the many reasons clients continue to value his counsel.
